Our Private Chistmas in Reykjavik Guided Tour…

This Christmas, join Your Friend in Reykjavik for a private guided walking tour through the streets of Reykjavik.

Together we’ll explore Iceland’s Christmas traditions and meet a magical cast of characters from Icelandic Christmas folklore, including the giantess Grýla, the Yule Cat, and the 13 pranksters known as the Yulelads.

This family-friendly tour brings Icelandic winter customs to life with exciting stories told throughout the walk.

Knowing that there are few better ways of getting to know a culture than through its food, we’ll also sample some Christmassy Icelandic treats on our way. (Those of you particularly interested in Icelandic cuisine may wish to consider our Private Walking Food Tour in Reykjavik.)

And when you travel with Your Friend in Reykjavik, you can be sure that you’ll get to uncover a few of the city’s hidden gems that are often missed by visitors.

Explore Reykjavik’s Christmas Markets and Attractions

Our meeting point is in Fógetagarðurinn for this private winter walk. We will absorb the festive atmosphere while looking at the city’s Christmas decorations before visiting Christmas market stalls at Ingólfur Square.

Then, we’ll journey on to take a look at the Oslo Christmas Tree at Austurvollur. While we walk, your expert tour leader will regale you with stories from Icelandic folklore, from the scary and surreal to the heartwarming and humorous.

We will make a short visit to a book store to see unique Icelandic Christmas books and discover the love Icelanders have for books, especially during Christmas time (reading plays a massive role in our winter celebrations).

Then it’s up to Reykjavik’s main shopping street, Laugavegur, to check out The Little Christmas Shop, a real Reykjavik winter institution. You can be sure we have some fun surprises along the way!

Finally, we will walk up the beautiful Skólavörðustígur towards the Hallgrímskirkja church, where we will end our walk.

But before we finish, we’ll be sure to reserve time for some Christmas shopping. And as a thank you for traveling with Your Friend in Reykjavik, you will get exclusive discounts at a couple of Christmas stores, stalls, and even restaurants.
